Lenore: Whatevers and Whatnots

This class is an introduction to collage quilting. You will pick one of the patterns and curated kits at Cotton Gin for an 8” collage, called Whatevers. We will work together to create this small collage. You will learn methods for fusing and embellishing these small quilts. You can make your creation into a pot holder, a table runner, pillow, or frame it and hang it on the wall. Whatever!

Perfect for storing toiletries, sewing supplies, craft projects, or for use as a decorative case, this case is both practical and charming.This class is best suited for confident beginning bag makers or intermediate to advanced sewists who are comfortable with their sewing machine. You will learn techniques for creating an oval-bottomed bag with a structured shape, to install a zipper on a curved opening and how to effectively use foam stabilizer (like Soft and Stable) to give your bag a durable and shapely structure.

Perfect for students with little sewing experience or all students that have completed Level 1 of the series. This beginner - friendly class focuses on continuing to build confidence and basic sewing skills step by step. Students will bring their own sewing machines (or rent one from Cotton Gin) and grow in their knowledge on how to use them and complete a simple project each class. Each session will introduce new skills with hands - on instruction and individual support in a small class setting. All required supplies must be purchased prior to class. We can’t wait to sew with you.

Join Zay and other hand-sitichers for a “Homegrown” adventure in Sue Spargo! Together we will use Sue’s pattern and instructions to create whatever project(s) you are up for. You can choose to work on a table runner, pillow cover, spool sac cover, zip bag, pincushion, design a smaller hanging or make the entire 45x45” wall hanging! All projects use Sue Spargo wool and embellishment thread. Zay will work with you to order supplies (wool and thread colors) for your project(s) and help with planning and stitches along the way.

The Wanderer's Wife Quilt is a fun project that is best accomplished with friends and over time. It has 72 pieced blocks, with a background of strips. At our first session, we will go over exactly what will be required to complete the quilt, including fabrics, tools, and multiple ways of piecing the blocks.
